The HIBAR Research Buddies are hosting an engaging event for UBC graduate students on March 6!
Join your fellow Buddies as we officially launch our community activities, showcasing impactful Highly Integrative Basic And Responsive (HIBAR) projects and highlighting the vital role that graduate students can take in these projects.
This Launch Event is:
- An in-person event hosted on both UBC campuses – Vancouver and Okanagan
- Open to all current UBC graduate students
- Free (advance registration is required)

On March 6, you will:
- Learn how building trusted relationships can accelerate the impact of our research from our invited speaker, Dr. David Hart (see below)
- Connect with other like-minded students from across research disciplines
- Take an active role in shaping the emerging HIBAR-B community, to catalyze change
- Better understand the vital role students can take in building trusted relationships
- Learn how researchers at UBC are tackling societal problems through HIBAR projects
Invited Speaker
Dr. David Hart, Director of the Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions at the University of Maine, will give a brief presentation to launch our discussion, exploring how building trusted relationships can accelerate the impact of our research. He and his colleagues have been engaged in an innovative collaboration with more than 200 faculty from nearly 30 academic disciplines to better align university research with the needs of society, in partnership with external organizations and community groups.
